Utilities cost constitutes one of the biggest line items in any real estate operation budget. Yet very few real estate professionals have the skills required to manage a utilities budget. This course provides the fundamental knowledge required to negotiate the best terms of a utility supply contract, optimize a utility's budget, and identify and correct billing errors. The course introduces the learner to the utility supply chain system and the fundamentals of electrical energy. It then covers core utilities account management topics such as utility tariff structure, utility budget, bill verification, and tariff analysis. At the end of this course, you should be able to develop a utility budget, verify utility bills before payment and achieve utility cost savings by selecting the best tariff.

The course is useful for energy engineers who develop business cases for energy efficiency and renewable projects. It is also relevant for Utility account controllers and managers, property managers, facilities managers, accountants, and any other real estate professional involved or interested in the management of utilities cost.
